Founder and Therapist

Myra Garcia, founder of Liberación Therapy and Consultation PLLC, is a proud first-gen college graduate, Chicana from the New Mexico, Texas, and Mexico Border. She is an LCSW and council-approved Supervisor in Texas and is also licensed in New York. Myra received her BSW from the University of Texas at Austin and MSW from New York University. She is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Social Work at the University of Utah.

Myra is an advocate and collaborator dedicated to serving BIPOC and LGBTIA2S+ communities through direct practice, research, education, and advocacy. Initially dedicated to providing holistic trauma therapy, Myra recognized the integral connection between individual healing and broader societal progress.

Driven by an understanding of the intersections between mental health, systemic oppression, and societal structures, Myra expanded her work to contribute to social work education, conducting research, and program evaluations to advance anti-racist and inclusive practices. She firmly believes that true societal progress requires liberation and acknowledges the importance of addressing both individual healing and systemic change for the collective liberation of marginalized communities.
